My god I love this book.

I've just finished reading it for the third time. It had been long enough since my last reading that I'd forgotten enough for it to be fun. I've been reading science fiction since Tom Swift when I was 14... Hmmm... 47 years ago, and Peter F. Hamilton is one of my favorite authors of all that time.
THIS marvelous and unhurried piece of storytelling is the Hamilton book I tell people to read first when they are getting into Hamilton. If you're wondering whether you should... the answer is almost certainly... Yeah.

Rich kid on distant planet gives up life of plenty to be a soldier and find advanced alien life and then back, help of alien

I love good science fiction. Peter F. Hamilton has wrote a very good book Fallen Dragon. Its kind of long at 630 pages. Its a good read,well written with super great description of advanced worlds, biotec "Skin" suits for soldiers, super advanced software and civilians on distant worlds in a few hundred years from now. Great character development.

I liked that some of the things Hamilton wrote about still had parts rooted to our time, like the distant parts of Scotland and other parts of Earth. Advanced but the reader is still able to relate to it. Also I liked that Hamilton did not go into weird religions and other slow moving parts that sometimes slow the reading down and are not really related to the main part of the book.

Hamilton does a good job connecting parts of the story together. We see Lawrence a kid of rich privilege on a distance world secretly longing to explore deep space and advanced civilizations. Problem is there is less and less explorations as money is tight and the star ships available are now mainly being used to bring back anything of value from known colonized worlds to the shareholders of the companies. Lawrence finds his true love and sex with a girl only to find out his rich politician father hired the "low income family girl" to have sex with his son. However the girl does love Lawrence. Lawrence finds out and gives up his rich life and becomes a "skin suit" soldier for the company taking things of value back to Earth.

We see great battle scenes where the "skin suit" can give the wearer extra strength, stamina, help give medicines internally, molds to the body and more. The perfect fighting machine. Lawrence makes Sergent and has twenty years in before discovering a super advanced alien creature/egg partially disabled and only having some of its advanced memory. Lawrence and some of his men with the help of super advanced "prime" software that can defeat the best software of the company ,skyjacks a gigantic star ship and goes to Aldebaran, a giant red star with the living alien/egg Dragon. There they met other Dragon creatures who's existance is for the accumulation of knowledge.

I won't ruin the ending for you. A very good ending.

Here was a good sci fi book that flows well, action packed, has techology and description readers can relate to certain aspects of today and is not slowed down by obscure religions, sects and other things difficult to relate to. A book the reader will enjoy reading. It may take a few days as the book is kind of long but worth the read. 4 1/3 stars. I liked the book so much I bought two other sci fi books by Peter F. Hamilton and will review.

Over the years, I've read an enormous amount of science fiction. I've read all of the classics, as well as a goodly number of the more recent works. Having read just about everything he has written, I can safely say that Peter Hamilton is now my favorite science fiction writer.

My first exposure to Hamilton was his magnum opus, Night's Dawn trilogy. Initially, I was absolutely blown away. About midway through this 3,500 page door stop, I began to lose interest, primarily because the novelty of many of Hamilton's brilliant alien and technological constructs simply became second nature. I followed up with Pandora's Star and Judas Unchained, another 2,000 page monster. Much like Night's Dawn, it simply carried on too long. The Void trilogy, actually a sequel to Judas Unchained, was another 2,000+ pages, but actually kept my attention throughout.

Fallen Dragon contains the same style of writing as the works referenced above, but is more tightly written and concludes in a brief (for Hamilton) 850 pages. As in his previous work, the alien life forms and the technology envisioned by Hamilton are magnificently presented. There are none of the clichés found in other, far simpler writing. In addition, Hamilton's stories contain a healthy dose of philosophy, but not to the extent found in the far denser writing of Frank Herbert or Charles Strauss. The plot twist that occurs at the end of this book is awesome and immensely satisfying.

If you are considering sampling Hamilton, this would be the perfect place to start. Unless I'm mistaken, you'll proceed on to some of his lengthier space operas. If nothing else, reading Hamilton will keep you occupied and entertained for months on end.

Well laid and excellent backbone of medicine

Best book ever. Concise and yet detailed.information is laid out well. Tables and images are excellent for quick reference. Always used it as my backbone. All other thick books are just additions. If you stick to memory every page of this book you really don't need another.

About the Author
CECIL D. MERCER is a distinguished professor of education at the University of Florida. He received his Ed.D. in special education from the University of Virginia in 1974. Cecil has written numerous articles and books on educating exceptional students. One of his major works is "Students with Learning Disabilities," and he is co-author of the "Strategic Math Series" and the "Great Leaps Reading Program." Cecil remains involved in the educational programs of exceptional students through his participation in in-service and classroom activities in public and private schools, and he is a featured keynote and workshop speaker at many national conferences. Cecil is a member of the International Dyslexia Association Board of Directors and has served on the Learning Disabilities Association of America Professional Advisory Board. He has been awarded the College of Education Teacher of the Year award three times at the University of Florida.

ANN R. MERCER is an educational diagnostician in Gainesville, Florida, and a former special education teacher of students with emotional disabilities and students with learning problems at both the elementary and secondary levels. Ann is co-author of "Self-Correcting Learning Materials for the Classroom" in additional to several articles and book chapters in the field of special education. Ann and Cecil have three sons, Kevin, Greg, and Ken, and a golden retriever named Buckley.

Not Long Enough to Develop the Story...

I'm not quite sure what to make of this Back Down Devil MC novella. It wasn't what I was expecting the characters to be like in this latest installment of the series. I wish it had been a full story instead of a novella.

I didn't like the two main characters Jake and Keira. Their story would have, in my opinion been better if their story had time to build and develop. The book was choppy, and it jumped around too much for my liking.

When an MC has a potential issue with another MC, they usually set up a meet instead of sending an individual in undercover. And, MC's don't ever allow women to have a say, never mind let them know anything about their business.

I'm not saying don't read the book. All I'm saying is that this book isn't up to its previous books in the series.

London Casey has hit another home run with this BDD Novella.

This book is based on Jake who goes "undercover" as a prospect to another MC to get information on the plans the rival MC has for Back Down Devil. He is alone and will remain that way should anything happen. And happen it does. Jake finds more than what he expected and is placed into a situation where he either turns his back on a wronged MC or moves without the support of his own MC.

This book was full of action and drama of course with a touch of Alpha Male Love. It kept my interest and I read it in one sitting. This was a book that was so well written that it ended before you wanted it to yet didn't leave you scratching your head or re-reading to see if you missed something along the way.

This is a book series that keeps on giving. I have no problem recommending any one of these books to any and all my friends and family. London Casey has found her way onto my favorite author list. I find more and more of her books on my Kindle and I am very rarely left unsatisfied.

I will definitely be a bit sad when the BDD series is finally over. What I would like to see when it is all said and done is a box set which carries the stories in order as the events happen. I would buy that with a smile on my face and begin the journey all over again. :)

Back Down Devil MC learns a rival club is working with the cartel. Rusted Devil MC needs money to help rebuild their club. Jake agrees to go undercover as a fighter for them so he can get the information his club needs. But he is on his own with this. Once in, he meets Kiera whose brother is the VP and she is a temptation he needs to avoid. But that is not so easy. The plan is get in, get the information and get out. Once in, he learns the deal with the cartel is not what they thought. They cartel is trying to take down Rusted Devil but what they don't know is they have a traitor in the club. What happens when everyone leans not only this but that Jake is already a member of another club? Things are about to get interesting. This is another great ride with Back Down Devil. I received an ARC for my honest review.

Used this version of the New Testament daily

I used this version of the New Testament daily and the cover did not stand up too well. Less than a year of use, the fabric was pulling loose from the edges and all the letters on the cover were gone. Content wise, these two versions Gnt/Tgv are good companions although they cannot be compared for equivalency. The size was perfect to carry daily and the point size of the text was easy to read.

Overcoming Prayers

Having suffered a traumatic miscarriage 8 years ago I know a bit about what it means to overcome infertility. Seven years ago on the 25th February 2006 God turned my sorrow into joy and gave us a healthy baby girl who is doing brilliantly today.

It was God who turned our mourning into dancing and gave us beauty for ashes. God will only intervene when you ask Him to. That is why I will encourage you to get this book that will help you pray effectively, help you develop the habit of asking and receiving from our heavenly father.

I have read this book and I can tell you that if you will read it and simply believe and pray the prayers in it you too will have a testimony and a reason to celebrate in this area of your life!

So far this book as been a much better read than any of my other text books. It's not boring so reading the chapters is much more enjoyable. One thing that is neat is the fact that each concept or topic has a song to help to hear and understand what was said. Best part chapters as far sized so reading only take 30 minutes
