Triad Magic is an introduction to chord theory for guitar, with access to videos online. You will learn how basic chords are constructed from scales, laying the groundwork to understanding more complex chords.
By the end of this book, you will be able to construct whichever chord forms you think are necessary for a song, based on what the other players in the band are already playing, and where you want to fit into that sound. And when you learn the parts of an existing song, by one of your favorite artists, you will have a better understanding of how they constructed the parts. Your solos will also be likely to improve as well, because you will have a greater awareness of how the lead patterns lay over the chord shapes along the neck. Triad Magic is super fun and easy to follow.
About the Author
Jerry Jennings started his musical career by performing in local bands and touring overseas. In the early 80 s, he decided to start a recording studio (Logic Surge Music). During this time he earned his AA in music and continued writing originals, and married his wife, Jane. He released his first of three instrumental jazz/rock/fusion CD s entitled The Good Part of a Pencil, Signs of Humanity, and the most recently released cd produced by Ronnie Montrose, Shortcut to the Center .
In 1994, out of pure necessity, Jerry wrote his first book The Guitarist s Link to Sight Reading -#1 Guide to Understanding Studio Charts. He needed to be fluent in reading charts to become a hired studio musician and there was nothing on the market for established players that didn t know how to read music. After getting great reviews on his style and working man s sense, he decided to team up with well know local talent, Erik Kleven, and write The Bassist s Link to Sight Reading. He did this once more with Ken Ballinger for The Drummer s Link to Sight Reading all with the same concept. With these titles picked up by Music Sales Publishing Company, he then ventured off to writing Classic Rock Rudiments for Lead Guitar, Guitar 1 Start Out Jammin, Triad Magic-An Introduction to Guitar Chord Theory, and finally Beginner Guitar Complete Course . All seven of these books include original compositions.
When the contract was up with Music Sales, Jerry and his bride decided to take on the publishing duties themselves. Together, along with their daughter Julia, they run Jennings Publishing Company aka JP Music.
Today Jerry is writing for Taxi, a song placement broker and compiling tunes for his next cd. All you Mac people will be happy to hear that Jerry has recently converted to an Apple based program called Logic. He continues to teach, record, write, produce, engineer, and perform at his local church as well as other venues livin life!

Who'd a Thunk

A book on triads would be so good. It's a quick read, but with lots of "a ha" moments. One of the most clear, concise guitar texts I've read.

I consider Myself a seasoned player, but after playing the same licks over and over, I needed something fresh to my "Bag of tricks". Triad Magic has opened many doors for me.... I have instantly started to incorporate what I've learned from this book on to my live performances, and even my writing. This book is a must for any guitarist who wants to add some real flavor to their playing. Jerry Jennings is not only an outstanding musician, but also an outstanding musical educator with many great books.....I have them all!
